The real reason we sell these is because it can be used with an AC adapter, through a USB connection OR batteries (4 AA) it’s portable! The sharpener sits right next to the laptop and doesn’t take up much space on the already tiny desk. Power is never going to be a problem, makes this all worthwhile. I mean it. Whether you’re sick of the cheap pencil sharpeners that don’t work, stopped working after few months, weak on the battery operation, loud, eating quickly and not evenly sharpener your pencils or you just don’t want to spend a fortune for a quality product that actually works… you’re going to absolutely love these.
The sharpener is fast and it only takes about 7 seconds to get a sharp point. Listen to a distinct sound change which will indicate that your perfect point is ready. Once pencil is removed sharpener stops operating.
Best result is achieved with regular size pencil such as a 6-8mm for Example a #2 Pencil (6mm) note: result of point adjuster feature you can see only if your pencils have thick leads .
The easiest way to get the shaving cover off is to hold the sharpener with one hand, and take hold of the cover with your other hands’ thumb on top and point finger on the bottom. Pull off using the pressure of your thumb to slide it away from the body of the sharpener. We recommend you do this over a waste basket!
There is a safety tab built into the shaving cover, it is a small plastic tab at the top. If the tab should break off for any reason the sharpener will not start so there is no chance anyone can get hurt by the blade when sharpening a pencil. If your sharpener suddenly stops working please check if the tab is there and if not email us and we will send you a replacement shaving cover at NO COST to you.
Writing instruments such as crayons, chalk, or soft waxy pencils will clog your sharpener’s blades. Do not use this machine to sharpen them. Note: Warranty voided when these are used.

Does it automatically stop when the pencil is sharp?
Yes, sharpening motor automatically shuts off when the perfect sharpness is reached. The sharpener can tackle colored and soft lead pencils with ease.
Where is it made?
The Sharpener was designed in Japan and is made in China at our manufacturing factory. All aspects of the manufacturing process in creating the sharpener are done with high quality control which provides us with an excellent product for our customers.
Does this sharpen triangle shaped pencils?
Yes, it will sharpener triangular pencils if they are about the size of a #2 pencil. If the pencil is larger than this then it will not fit.
Someone said that it sharpens drawing pencils but specifically will it sharpen the larger european pencils?
The sharpener can sharpen pencils that are 6-8mm. The largest pencil it will sharpen the newer Faber Castell Polychromos & the Derwent Inktense and Coloursoft as well but not the vintage ones. They are a tighter fit than other pencils but the sharpener does a good job with them. I hope this gives you a guideline of what the size pencil the sharpener can handle.
How's the motor? I'm a teacher and sometimes have to sharpen 32 pencils at a time. I've burned out several motors in other sharpeners.
I did 36 (3 boxes of 12) the other day of brand new pencils getting ready for back to school. I had to empty the shaving tray after each box of 12, but the sharpener performed great.
